A bamboo deck applied on the edge of a cliff

Terrasse en bambou au bord d'une falaiseDesigning a terrace can sometimes be a challenge. This private residence in Solana Beach, California, is located on the edge of a cliff, with a breathtaking view of the Pacific Ocean. The conditions for installing the deck proved to be particularly difficult. With very limited ventilation space, the material had to be able to face extreme humidity levels and withstand salty air. Making the material choice for this terrace very important. In light of the project requirements, the installer decided to install MOSO® Bamboo X-treme® Decking.

Decking design in combination with cladding

In order to create the terraces for these luxurious penthouses, the architects chose to use a high quality and durable material. MOSO® Bamboo X-treme® Decking, located only 300 meters from the seafront, covers the terraces and walls of various outdoor areas throughout the Briga Towers. The ecological aspect of the material was also part of the selection criteria for the bamboo decking. The design of the deck, in combination with the wall, creates the idea of a room with a natural ambience.

Decking designed around the natural pool at Hotel Alpenrose

Decking designed around the natural pool at Hotel AlpenroseThe 5* Wellness Residenz Hotel in Alpenrose, Austria is located on Achensee lake in Maurach, Tirol. It offers its guests a natural and relaxing environment. The owners had high requirements for the design of the hotel's terraces, particularly in terms of sustainability. The decking is installed directly above the lake water, so the material needed to be highly resistant to moisture. Bamboo X-treme® Decking achieves the highest result in terms of biological durability (Class 1 according to EN 350) which is why the Bamboo X-treme® Decking, also known for its natural aesthetics and high stability, was chosen.

Decking design in a chevron pattern

Terrasse en bambou en point de hongrie Outdoor decking is a continuation of a houses interior and often the interior design is extended onto the terrace. In this private residence in Casablanca, Morocco, the owners wanted to reflect the chevron pattern installation of the interior floor in the bamboo decking. Thanks to the high stability of the material, MOSO® Bamboo X-treme® Decking could be installed with the same pattern as the flooring in the house.

Creative combinations with natural stone

Creative combinations with natural stone and bambooArchitect Niva Litvak combined natural materials in a private residence in Haifa. The result is an expression of originality and innovation in a beautiful project. Both the interior and the garden are designed with bamboo and natural stone, blending perfectly into a peaceful ambiance. While the flooring tiles are continued in the wall, bamboo decking is used for the outdoor kitchen furniture to create a homogenous look. The materials, in combination with the variation in lines, results in a beautiful garden.

Creative shapes in a dock by the lake

CandlewoodTo design the deck of a private lakefront residence in Candlewood Lake, Ohio, USA, the owner compared different material choices online to select the one that would be compatible with his requirements. The decking needed to have characteristics such as: great stability, high durability and versatility. MOSO® Bamboo X-treme® Decking allowed the owner to achieve the design he wanted and even keep the tree in the center of the terrace. The stability of the material and its versatility allowed for a creative design with decking boards, in all possible directions.

Playful design with multiple width decking boards

Playful design with multiple width decking boardsWhen it comes to freedom and creativity in design, the use of multiple width decking boards offers many new possibilities. The designer of this deck in Cape Town, South Africa, used various width decking boards to match the given dimensions and create an inspiring deck. Combined with the stairs, the variety of decking widths results in an interesting line pattern. The high stability of Bamboo X-treme® Decking is required to create neat connections, such as those found in the stairs. See more close-up photos of this decking design here.

A design to highlight the length of a deck

Terrasse en bambou tout en longueurA large rooftop on an apartment building in Amsterdam was renovated with a unique “polder roof garden” system: A special system of crates allows for rainwater storage that can later be drained at any preferred time to water the plants; an invention of the installer “De Dakdokters”. The bamboo terrace offers residents a recreational space for rooftop parties or relaxation. Hans van Heeswijk Architects come up with the design for this lengthy garden. Placing the Bamboo X-treme® Decking boards lengthwise further enhances the length of the terrace. The bamboo decking boards are installed with an end-match system, making the boards appear endless.
